Burma hoped to gain independence by sideing with Japan, but it soon became obvious that Japan had no intention of giving independence to Burma. The people of Burma fought against the British at first when they thought Japan would give them independence. China
China and Japan were long-time enemies. Japan had invaded China in 1931, and the Japanese people thought that China' land belonged to them. Once WWII started Japan was quick to invade china. Japan had taken Chinese land during 1930-1939, during the Sino-Japanese War. Japan failed to take several cities, and foreign help from the allied powers prevented the Japanese from advancing much during WWII. Japan had to forfeit all Chinese lands taken after their surrender.
Thailand
Thailand was taken by the Japanese in 1942 and 1943. The royal family was exiled which angered many people in Thailand. Japanese troops stationed in Thailand became more and more of a bother as the war went on. A resistance was formed and by 1945 50,000 people in Thailand were ready to rise up. Thailand was tired of the overwhelmingly amount of troops in their country. Japanese's surrender caused Thailand to surrender. They then made a new government and gave up in WWII.
Japanese Surrender
The Atomic Bomb caused the Japanese to surrender. The Japanese Military leaders had stated that Japan would fight to the end if troops breached their native soil. The Atomic Bomb made the leaders rethink their statements. The Japanese realized that if they could be wiped out, and the Allied Powers would not lose even one man, then there was no point in dying. After the destruction of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, the Military Leaders had no choice to surrender. The Japanese navy had become incapable of preforming operations, and Japans's mainland was under attack by Allied planes. They surrendered on September 2, 1945, and WWII was officially brought to a close. Once Japan had surrendered all land taken was restored back to its original owners. Only the Japanese mainland was allowed to stay in Japanese control.
